All I can do is wish for one more day to fall in love with you.

Madison Avery is the poster child for obedience. Ruled by anxiety and fear, she never expected Austin Weir. Everything about the tattooed, blue-eyed boy shatters every well-configured law in the Avery household.

Teaching Madison to live, Austin breaks through the prison of her anxiety. They spend the summer taking chances, making memories, and falling in love.

But love has no comprehension of time. It doesn’t fade when summer bleeds into fall and time ends. Love, like life, must continue.

Madison learns that love doesn’t exist within time. It is endless and unfading and heartbreaking.

But one lesson is learned: love is living without regret.

Love is life.

Author’s Bio:

I live in Alberta, Canada, where the weather is forever changing (without warning). I married the man of my dreams on August 15, 2015. He is my high school sweetheart and love of my life. There are no children in my life as of right now, but we do have a handful of rambunctious cats (five) and a testy, rescued Shepard/Husky, who take up a lot of my time.

Ever since I can remember, I’ve adored the written word. English was always my favorite class and that may be biased because I can’t count to save my life, so math was a horror! I remember the very first novel I ever read, Shocking Pink by Erica Spindler. It was the most interesting of the covers on my mom’s bookshelf (probably because it was pink) and I was way too young to be reading that novel. But I fell in love. From there, I read almost everything from V.C. Andrews.

My writing started out as poetry, which then evolved to songs, and later into novels. I was never one for the short stories as I found it too difficult to pack everything I imagined into something so small.

The Bad Ones ebook cover

Love isn’t always bright and shiny.

Sometimes, it’s dirty and wrong, buried six feet deep in a secret place where only wild things dare to go. Hidden behind a big black curtain that covers things no one should ever see.

Sometimes it happens between two people who should never be allowed to come together. One who is a match, and the other who just happens to be gasoline.

One strike is all it takes to burn the whole world down, and that’s exactly what they plan on doing.

Even if it kills them.

warning: this book contains graphic sex, extremely brutal violence, bad language, and people repeatedly and knowingly breaking the law.

KFF’s 4 ★ Review by Sharon Thérèse

This novel is so wickedly hot; it goes over the edge of perverse. For me, the characters went beyond the realm of anything I’ve have read before. It also pushed me well out of my comfort zone, and in spite of the fact that most of the time I was truly shocked to the core, my morbid curiosity was as such that I devoured the book in one sitting. The author’s creative writing is at its very best. Her character development in a book with no holds barred, quite incredible. And I never expected anything less from Ms Fantôme who is well-known for combining an action packed storyline with unconventional romance. In this case, unconventional would be putting it mildly because the two protagonists don’t even come near to what is considered morally correct. Comparing them with a Molotov cocktail would be more appropriate as they are nothing less than explosive together.

Contrasting upbringings but traits so similar, Dulcie and Constantine are two peas in a pod. She stays under the radar, has had a difficult and unloving childhood and escapes from reality in her love for drawing abstract thoughts. I was extremely worried for this young lady at the beginning of the story; however, my fears were unfounded as she is the strongest anti-heroine I have come across in a long time. Albeit Constantine’s subtle awareness of Dulcie’s quirky ways and purity, when he eventually acknowledges her, she is convinced she had him sussed; could see straight through him. Little did I know what he had in store for her. Saying that, I had no doubt her future happiness would hinge on this irresistibly beautiful bad boy but as usual with this author’s works, nothing is ever what it seems.

“Why did I help him? Why did I do anything? And how does Constantine Masters even know my name!?”

Constantine’s home life hasn’t been much better but he wants for nothing. To his peers, he is legendary. He is unstoppable. He is simply magnificent! And considering his young age, one of the most complex personas I have yet to meet. Attracting everyone’s attention like bees around a honey-pot is not only because of his outstanding good looks, but also being the best at everything he does, he does with unrivalled control.

“I don’t need a pick up line, Dulcie. I’ve already got you.”

What I adored about this idiosyncratic couple was the underlying feelings they had which seemed to grow stronger and stronger as I flipped the pages. At the end of each and every part of the book split into three and numbered, I was left dangling on a precipice yearning to discover more. There is a method in his madness for making her wait though. She’s not ready for he his wants… and it’s going to take a few years for her to come to terms with who she really is. Ooh my goodness me, when it happens, the revelation shocked me and shocked her, too! Sparks flew and they become a devastating mean machine in sync. All the suffering to find a status quo in their relationship has a price is high. The outcome, horrendously splendid.

“Don’t ever be scared. It kills me. From now on, tell me whenever you’re scared and I’ll take away your fears.”

Told in third person from both their points of view, it was really Dulcie’s story to tell. I can’t say I liked any of the secondary characters but cannot dispute that they were all immensely well-developed. I felt sorry for one of them who was played to a tee by all concerned. The banter flowed to perfection throughout, the epilogue… no words. And as for the sex scenes, lord above, they left with me with my mouth wide open. One can only hope that a spin-off or novella would be in the offing as the ending was more than titillating. If there was one thing I couldn’t wrap my head around were the deep physiological effects this story has. Lunatic, yes! Brilliantly written, not questionable. Bravo Ms Fantôme!

“Watching Dulcie Travers cry had been a beautiful moment, but getting to see her mad, well. She’d be stunning.”

How curious that the quotes I loved the best were Constantine’s! He left his mark on me.

Con finally unlocked the doors and she hefted herself into the massive vehicle. They sat in silence for a while, their breath fogging up the glass. Then he opened his mouth.

“Did he touch you?”

Dulcie knew he wasn’t asking about the homeless man.

“Not in any way that counts,” she replied, turning to look at him. His hands had moved to grip the steering wheel.

“So he has touched you.”

“Jared was just an experiment, I wanted to see if -”

“You let him fucking touch you.”

You fucking left me!” she was suddenly screaming. He didn’t even flinch, just gripped the steering wheel harder. “You fucking left me in this fucking town, without a goddamn goodbye! Without a goddamn word! God, you have no idea what it’s been like. That fucking camera, all those drawings. And there’s all these people, and talking, and feeling this way, and all the blackness, and I don’t even know what’s wrong with me, and nothing. You come back, and it’s like nothing to you. Oh hey, Dulcie. Where’s your sketchbook, Dulcie. Come to a party, Dulcie. Let me just fuck this chick in the woods, Dulcie. So you know what? Yeah, he fucking touched me. I let him fucking touch me. And I hated every minute of it, and I would pretend it was you, and I would hate you, and I would hate myself, and I just let it happen.

Con lunged across the seat, and absurdly, her first thought was “wow, he’s really fast” before his fingers wrapped around her throat. She wasn’t fazed, though, and she pushed right back, slapping him across the face. This only caused him to clench both hands around her neck and he yanked her forward, dragging her to him so their faces were only inches apart.

“Stupid little Dulcie,” he whispered, his breath hot against her lips. She held onto his wrists and glared at him, but didn’t try to pull away. His fingers got tighter. “So scared of the big bad wolf.”

“I’m not … scared of you,” she managed to gasp out, but then his grip grew so tight he completely cut off her oxygen.

“Of course you aren’t scared of me. I’m not the wolf. You are.”

So that’s what was hiding behind the curtain. I wish you’d told me sooner, Con. We could’ve reveled in our darkness together.

It felt like a weight was lifted off her back. She’d been pretending for so long, and she hadn’t even realized it. Had conditioned herself to do it. It was easier to believe Con was the darkness, and she was simply drawn to it. Basking in his wake. But it was all a lie – she was every bit as dark as him. They were the same animal. She’d just been better at deceiving herself. And now they’d evolved into something else, into a new, higher being.

Her lungs were throbbing, screaming for oxygen. She could feel her pulse pounding behind her face. Her mouth was open, but she couldn’t make a sound. Black spots danced in front of her eyes, yet still they stared at each other. Recognizing each other, maybe for the first time ever.

Maybe for the last time.

What a way to die, looking into the face of this beautiful boy. What a gift.

Crazy woman living in an undisclosed location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since …, forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball – I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I’m clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.

I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don’t trust anyone who doesn’t drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there’s your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair – both a curse and a blessing – and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can’t understand me.

Yeah. I think that about sums me up.
