About the Author:

USA Today and New York Times Bestselling Author Laurelin Paige is a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there’s kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn’t seem to complain, however. When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s probably singing, watching Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead, or dreaming of Michael Fassbender. She’s also a proud member of Mensa International though she doesn’t do anything with the organization except use it as material for her bio. She is represented by Rebecca Friedman.

He was the myth and the legend of our small town. But no one knew the truth… except me.

My childhood was stolen by a monster. I’ve forgotten what love feels like. What happiness feels like. What hope feels like. I am numb.

He’s possibly as damaged as I am. Maybe even more. Scarred just as much on the inside as the outside. Just like me. He doesn’t speak. He doesn’t smile. He hides in the woods like an animal. I should be scared of him. But I’m not. He’s the only one that has ever made me feel. And I want to make him feel, too. everything…

Wow! I’m not sure where to start with Tied in all honesty, I guess if you haven’t read Torn, the first of The Devil Wolves book then you really should. It’s not imperative that you do in order to understand Tied, as both can be read as standalones, but Torn is so good you’d be doing yourself a disservice by skipping it. Tied left me wondering how on earth this author was going to manage to write a story about the “savage” in the woods.

“We’re kinda made of the same ripped-up cloth.”

And that is the essence of Tied – two absolutely messed up people meeting in the middle and finding their own way. This book is less to do with The Devil Wolves MC and concentrates on Holly and Tyler. One hides, and one was hidden. Watching both come together and building something is quite a wonder.

On first meeting Holly; it’s unpleasant. She’s an 18-year-old child who is dragged from a hole in the woods. I use the word child in the most literal of senses. Carian Cole wrote Holly beautifully, portraying a young woman who saw the world through the eyes of a child. The writing was perfect, hauntingly sad in all the right places, emotion simply pouring and weaving throughout most of the book. I felt Holly’s journey from start to finish. Many authors build on the emotion and then pummel the reader hard and fast, all at once. Tied isn’t like that, it comes at you from all angles, sometimes with surprise and sometimes not. It’s a constant drip feed of intensity and sadness interspersed with some beautiful moments. Yet the story written doesn’t smother or drown the reader, it propels…the emotion finely balanced.

“She’s like the star on top of the Christmas tree – that final glittering touch that brings it all together.”

Both Holly and Tyler tell their stories yet somehow Tyler becomes and remains the most instrumental character throughout the whole book. He tells a lot of Holly’s tale, which I found quite surprising, but immensely clever. I loved the way Carian Cole wrote this and how she gets under your skin for most of the book. And just when you think you’ve read the worst…well, you haven’t. Tied is not graphically detailed however I don’t think it needed to be. You can piece together both histories without the grit and gore that obviously happened, to have written so descriptively of those scenes would have sullied the beauty of Holly and Tyler, it didn’t belong in Tied.

A convoluted fairy tale style of story is the base of Tied, a little Beauty and the Beast. I didn’t feel like I was reading a re-cap of an old fairy tale though no matter how many connotations there were. Some delicious and unseen twists often stopped me in my tracks, supporting characters played their part well however difficult or mean they seemed. Everyone had a reason. Both Holly and Tyler were easy to fall in love with too. Holly should have been a snivelling mess due to her ordeal and Tyler should have been meaner in retrospect. Neither gave me cause to dislike them, both strong characters, very appealing.

“We have so many f’ed-up gray areas between us we’re practically a black and white movie.”

My only “gripe” about this whole book is the ending. Being the practical person I am I found it a tad ridiculous, a little too much but you know what – it was perfect for them and for that I can’t really grumble about it so I’m not going to. Highly recommended, I can’t punt this author enough. Every time she writes something she bowls me over, sweeps me off my feet. Personally, Tied has surpassed Torn for me, a stellar five star read that you’d be a fool to miss. Keep your eyes peeled for Boomer, the little guy is something else!

I loved the sound of the blurb and was quite eager to read The Shape of You from Felice Stevens. I’ve read a fair bit of this author’s work and am familiar with her style, so I know what I’m getting when I open my kindle.

The Shape of You started off great, the plot line giving new meaning to opposites attract, both main characters certainly did. Corey and Eric seemed engaging enough. I liked Eric far more than Corey but I failed to fall in love with either men. Corey’s story hit a chord with me and I absolutely understood his demons. I was “that” kid too, most likely why he resonated with me. While I got his issues, I didn’t altogether feel all that enamoured with him as a character. Eric had a subtle quietness to him that I found I really liked, his oafish qualities will certainly appeal to the reader. I was rooting for Eric from the start.

Whilst the book started off well, it petered out after a while, sadly the story lost its steam rather quickly. Thus, it made for a stop/start kind of read for me, which is never good, I wasn’t invested enough in the overall book to read in one sitting. I wondered if perhaps it was the fact that the guys were nice and I wasn’t used to reading those kinds of characters. On reflection that wasn’t it, I’d just recently read a “nice guy” book and didn’t have the same feeling. I think it lacked action. It could be argued The Shape of You is a slow burner but I’d have to disagree. It just lacked in places. The storyline flatlined for me at about 65% so I was left feeling extremely disappointed, as it was the same with the last book I read from this author. Perhaps the vocations weren’t riveting enough to keep my attention, plus dieting is a tricky subject to keep engaging – who knows?

I did enjoy the fact that The Shape of You had quite the unique storyline, coupled with the author’s writing style I really wished this had been the book I wanted. I’d still encourage people to read, I see the appeal and honestly – we all read differently. Sadly, this one was not for me.

Author’s Bio:

I have always been a romantic at heart. I believe that while life is tough, there is always a happy ending around the corner, my characters have to work for it, however. Like life in NYC, nothing comes easy and that includes love.

I live in New York City with my husband and two children and hopefully soon a cat of my own. My day begins with a lot of caffeine and ends with a glass or two of red wine. I practice law but daydream of a time when I can sit by a beach somewhere and write beautiful stories of men falling in love. Although there is bound to be a few bumps along the way, a Happily Ever After is always guaranteed.

Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.

Whoever coined that phrase is a bald-faced liar. Words are often the sharpest weapon of all, triggering some of the most powerful emotions a human can experience.

“You’re pregnant.”

“It’s a boy.”

“Your son needs a heart transplant.”

Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.

Syllables and letters may not be tangible, but they can still destroy your entire life faster than a bullet from a gun.

Two words—that was all it took to extinguish the sun from my sky.

“He’s gone.”

For ten years, the darkness consumed me.

In the end, it was four deep, gravelly words that gave me hope of another sunrise.

“Hi. I’m Porter Reese.”

Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.

Words destroyed me.

“I’m sorry. She didn’t make it.”

“Daddy, he can’t breathe!”

“There’s nothing more we can do for your son.”

Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.

Those syllables and letters became my executioner. I told myself that, if I didn’t acknowledge the pain and the fear, they would have no power over me. But, as the years passed, the hate and the anger left behind began to control me.

Two words—that was all it took to plunge my life into darkness.

“He’s gone.”

In the end, it was four soft, silky words that gave me hope of another sunrise.

“Hi. I’m Charlotte Mills.”

EXCERPT REVEAL                                          TRAIN WRECK by T. GEPHART

“No passion, no emotion, no originality—a train wreck of epic portions.”

Those were the words to describe Eve Thorton’s exhibition. Not even a fine arts degree from Yale or her daddy’s bank account could save her from the scathing reviews. And failure was a word Eve would never be comfortable with. Not even close.

Plotting the demise of every critic who’d written her off was her first instinct. But that would come later. Instead, she would show them that she wasn’t a bored socialite with more money than talent.

She would prove everyone wrong, and she wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty. But when her journey for redemption crashed headfirst into Josh Logan, the sexy, talented tattooist from Queens, getting her hands dirty took on a whole new meaning.

Josh was everything Eve wasn’t, translating on skin what she couldn’t onto her canvas. All she had to do was convince him to share his jaw-dropping brilliance, and help her—seeing him naked—a bonus. Then she could go back to her regular life, vindicated.

It should have been easy. Pity her plans had a habit of derailing.

Kitty had said Josh Logan was gorgeous.

Her description was tall, athletic and covered in exquisite wearable art.

With jet-black hair that was cropped short except for the top which he wore longer and combed back. Sort of like Elvis, but a thousand times hotter, and without the retro clothes.

So, I had been mentally prepared for a decent looking guy. But I had just shipped off all of Oliver’s stuff and scruffy guys with tattoos weren’t really my thing. Besides, I was here for a purpose, and that was not to get a date. I was a professional and this was New York, and gorgeous men were everywhere. It’s not like I was a bag of hormones incapable of using her head.

Yet all it took was a single freaking smile.

How it was even possible was beyond me, but Kitty severely understated.

Josh Logan was well over six-foot and built like a South American soccer player. You know the kind—hot, toned, and looked fabulous in their underwear on the side of a building. Sadly, Josh was wearing clothes—a fantastic pair of jeans and a black fitted T-shirt that hugged his arms and chest so lovingly it needed a standing ovation.

And those eyes? Wowzas. Perfect cerulean blue.

Tattoo Jesus was freaking HOT.

And another thing, his tattoos were insane. Each perfectly toned arm was covered in intricate designs that went all the way up into his sleeves where they were tragically hidden by his T-shirt. Then the color reappeared, snaking up his neckline. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to lick his skin or hang it on a wall. Oh, that sounded bad. Yeah. Hanging it on the wall sounded creepy. Licking. Licking was better.

I had been a locked vault. Kept it together and pretended he wasn’t the hottest man I’d seen. I’d even managed to carry on a conversation, completely hiding the fact my panties had disintegrated the minute he’d walked into the room. That, my friends, was where the real talent was.

Meet T. Gephart

T Gephart is an indie author from Melbourne, Australia.

T’s approach to life has been somewhat unconventional. Rather than going to University, she jumped on a plane to Los Angeles, USA in search of adventure. While this first trip left her somewhat underwhelmed and largely depleted of funds it fueled her appetite for travel and life experience.

With a rather eclectic resume, which reads more like the fiction she writes than an actual employment history, T struggled to find her niche in the world.

While on a subsequent trip the United States in 1999, T met and married her husband. Their whirlwind courtship and interesting impromptu convenience store wedding set the tone for their life together, which is anything but ordinary. They have lived in Louisiana, Guam and Australia and have travelled extensively throughout the US. T has two beautiful young children and one four legged child, Woodley the wonder dog.

An avid reader, T became increasingly frustrated by the lack of strong female characters in the books she was reading. She wanted to read about a woman she could identify with, someone strong, independent and confident who didn’t lack femininity. Out of this need, she decided to pen her first book, A Twist of Fate. She enjoyed the process so much that when it was over she couldn’t let it go.

T loves to travel, laugh and surround herself with colourful characters. This inevitably spills into her writing and makes for an interesting journey – she is well and truly enjoying the ride!

Based on her life experiences, T has plenty of material for her books and has a wealth of ideas to keep you all enthralled.

What an exhilarating and passionate read! Alice Story and Carlos Vega, two people I would love to sit down and chat over coffee with.

Their stories fascinated and thrilled me. Alice up and left her father’s company three years ago and when she left, she announced anyone who no longer wanted to work for a man like her father could come with her. Only one person took up her offer, Carlos Vega. For three years they worked side by side. One is refusing to admit that they have feelings and the other not daring to hope that their feelings will ever be reciprocated. I adored the will they, won’t they of this book; but at the same time it frustrated me to no end.

“You haven’t answered my question yet,”
“Does it matter?”
“I…it shouldn’t”

“You’re my employer; it’s none of my business.”

Carlos Vega has become a strong contender for my favourite Book Boyfriend of the year to date. I loved how true to his roots he was, and how he waited for Alice.

“For the record? Your ass beats Ana Maria’s any day and twice on Sunday.”
“Is that right?”
“This is one hundred percent a fact, mami.”
“It’s slang. Like, sarcastic, truth-slang.”
“So you’re not really calling me ‘mommy’.”
“Alice, when I call you ‘baby’ later, it won’t have nothin’ to do with me seein’ you as a child either.”
“Are you going to call me ‘baby’?”

“I been there, mami. Just waitin’ for you to come join me.”

In most romance novels there is straight forward method to the story. The Director and Don Juan didn’t follow that path. The starting of Alice and Carlos’ relationship took a considerably large part of the story to get to. Knowing Alice’s back story and her drive to conquer the world, it isn’t hard to believe that she would fight for so long and so hard to ignore her feelings for Carlos. But, for me, this is where things felt a little off. When Alice and Carlos got together and moved forward with their relationship, to me, it seemed as if the book was missing a small chunk. I felt as if I’d had dessert and missed out on the main course. This book as a whole is fantastic and I truly do love reading this author.

“The future isn’t something perfect,
The future isn’t something predictable.
The best thing you can do is find a partner who loves you and tackle it together.”
