Most of All You: A Love Story

On sale: October 17, 2017 | Forever | Trade Paperback: $14.99 | eBook: $4.99

A broken woman . . .

Crystal learned long ago that love brings only pain. Feeling nothing at all is far better than being hurt again. She guards her wounded heart behind a hard exterior and carries within her a deep mistrust of men, who, in her experience, have only ever used and taken.

A man in need of help . . .

Then Gabriel Dalton walks into her life. Despite the terrible darkness of his past, there’s an undeniable goodness in him. And even though she knows the cost, Crystal finds herself drawn to Gabriel. His quiet strength is wearing down her defenses and his gentle patience is causing her to question everything she thought she knew.

Only love can mend a shattered heart . . .

Crystal and Gabriel never imagined that the world, which had stolen everything from them, would bring them a deep love like this. Except fate will only take them so far, and now the choice is theirs: Harden their hearts once again or find the courage to shed their painful pasts.

Most of All You is such a beautifully, sad but uplifting book. Written in true Mia Sheridan style, it was an easy book to get lost in. This author has always had a way with words, the emotions she evokes from readers always comes to the fore when you pick up her books. Not an initial page turner for me, even though the prologue is heart wrenching, but more of a slow dive into a rapturous story. I didn’t devour this book, but I find all Mia Sheridan’s reads are the same – like an unhurried walk through the park – I use my time to take in my surroundings.

Gabriel and Crystal’s story is quite unique and I absolutely appreciated that it was. No cookie cutter, guilty pleasure read here. A well thought our plot with engaging characters throughout. Two broken people finding something they never thought they would in one another. Both have horrendous paths, live a wary life but converge to find themselves in one another, their road is not an easy one.

I granted this four stars as I felt a little let down with the direction in which the author took Gabriel – more like what wasn’t said, I think. The character development lacked here for me. While Most of All You is very much about Gabriel and Crystal’s life in the here and now, I felt that very little attention was made to Gabriel’s experience in his past. It was very specific and the detail, for me, was lacking. I was left looking for more detail to that point in his life.

Can’t fault Mia Sheridan’s writing, as always, her descriptive imagery is quite astounding, bringing the reader into the fold with a lexicon of scenery. I didn’t find this book as engrossing as some of her earlier. Most of All You has a very sweet edge to it despite its dark themes, perhaps a little too sweet for my tooth. Very much worth the read, however.

From the New York Times bestselling author, K. Bromberg, comes a new series about three brothers, the job that calls them, and the women who challenge them.

“I hate you. I never want to see you again.”

Grant Malone is not the reason I moved back to Sunnyville—at least that’s what I tell myself. Yet, those parting words I said to him back in third grade, ring in my ears every time a townsperson brings up one of the Malone boys. I thought time had healed my wounds. I was wrong. Nothing could have prepared me for how I felt when I finally saw him again.

Twenty years does a lot to turn a boy into a man. One who hits all my buttons—sexy, funny, attractive, and a police officer. But Grant is off limits because he knows too much about my past.

But I’m drawn to him. That damn uniform of his doesn’t hurt either. It’ll be my downfall. I know it.
What’s one night of sex going to hurt . . . right?

I’ve always loved Emmy Reeves.

That’s why I’m shocked to see her all these years later. The shy girl I once knew is all grown up.

Adventurous and full of life, she owns my heart now, just as much as she did back then. Convincing her of that is a whole different story.

I’ll give her the one night she asks for—like that’s a hardship—but when it comes to letting her walk away after, she has another thing coming. There’s no way in hell I’m letting her go this time without a fight.

Never have I ever read a character in a book that is almost perfect. The author has created the most lovable hero in Grant Malone and I can’t get enough of him!

Grant Malone is the oldest of the three Malone brothers and is onto a mission to save the world ever since his childhood friend Emmy went away. Emerson and Grant were neighbours and grew up together as best friends but one day Emmy told Grant a secret, made him pinky promise and he did. The eight year old boy broke that promise though and his best friend was taken away. Fast forward twenty years and Emerson is back in town all grown up. I love the family dynamics of the Malone family: dad is a retired Chief of Police, mum is a strong woman who handles the men in her family very well, Grant the eldest is a police officer, Grayson the middle son is a pilot and a single parent and Grady the youngest son is a firefighter. We get a glimpse of their tight knit family and by the end of the story you want to know more about the other brothers too.

Emerson’s background is the complete opposite to the Malone family. She is a gypsy by heart, doesn’t trust men and shies away from relationships. She doesn’t remember much about her childhood because she has blocked it off. Only a well written book can convey a character’s inner anguish especially when she remembers glimpses of her past childhood. There is a delicate balance between her strength and vulnerability and Grant is the key. Either he can help her or destroy her completely. “He started putting my bricks and mortar back into place to prove that I am as strong as I thought I was. Sure there is doubt, and there always will be. But he knew that was what I needed – to be pushed back into my comfort zone so I’d find my confidence again. So I’d wipe out my scepticism.”

I just love how the author moulds Grant’s character into that perfect fictional boyfriend that every woman wants. His dedication to his career, his hero complex albeit annoying to Emmy is so cute and showing her that he is willing to go all in and realising that she is the one is so swoon worthy. I just want to pinch his cheeks, either way! How can you not fall in love with a guy who is strong enough to knock out a bad guy and yet not afraid in showing his girl his softer side?

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I think I found my new book boyfriend I am quite willing to share. Ladies, join the queue! I am so looking forward to reading Grady’s story. Highly recommended!

Genre: Contemporary Romance

On the streets of New Orleans, sins are committed every night.

My name is Jett Colby and I save tarnished souls.

In the downtown, under the glittery lights of Bourbon Street, I found her in cheap lingerie, flaunting her body for callous men and money.

From the lace of her cheap lingerie, to her garter belt, I knew she had to be saved.

She had to be mine.

Broke and destitute with no way of out, she had no choice but to come to me and into my club.

She had no other choice but to become a Jett Girl.

But see, that’s the thing about this city; you might think that under the dazzling lights and illusion of salvation, she’s the one that needed saving.

When the glitter fades and the dirt is washed away, the one worth saving just might be me.

This is the first book in the Bourbon series. Erotica romance at its best as written by the author who is well known for her funny stories.

Goldie is a sexy and sassy waitress down on her luck. Her parents were killed when Hurricane Katrina struck the city and she was left on her own. She is broke and desperately trying to make ends meet working in a strip club. She caught the attention of successful businessman Jett Colby and recruited her as a Jett Girl at the Lafayette Club, an exclusive gentleman’s club he owns. His best friend and manager Kace is also an integral part of their story and is quite an enigma. There are four other Jett Girls in the club: Pepper, Babs, Tootse and Francy they are all very interesting characters.

This romantic erotica features a potty-mouth, funny and sexy Cinderella who meets her hot as sin Prince Not-So-Charming. I love the chemistry between Jett and Goldie, it was lust at first sight for these two. And add to that Kace who is also a sexy brooding character who just might be attracted to Goldie as well. Jett is not into relationships or commitments. Goldie thinks she got the memo but then when he keeps on giving her mixed messages, what’s a girl to think?

The humorous banter, the sizzling sex scenes involving these characters make this a fun read I just couldn’t put this book down. Bourbon Sins will set your temperatures racing and make you want for more of Jett, Goldie, Kace and the girls. I’m off to read the next one!

The walls of my club hold many secrets. Depravity. Sin. Justice.

Come in; debauchery can be yours for the cost of a lap dance and a night of pleasure.

And I own every last part of it.

But she’s my weakness, and thankfully she followed me through the insolvent streets of New Orleans, giving me her loyalty and her heart.

My desire for her dominates my every thought, but my broken past could destroy us.

There are people trying to bring me down.

Two malicious men stand in the way of what I want: to own it all.

It’s either Lot 17 or Goldie, my Jett Girl.

I have to make a choice and for once, it won’t be easy.

This is book 2 of the Bourbon series. Book 1 ends in Goldie officially becoming a Jett Girl and her relationship with Jett continues.

Oh my word, Jett and Goldie’s story just gets better and better. Now a Jett Girl Goldie’s relationship with Jett looks like it’s on the up and up. Their sexual chemistry never wanes, they just can’t get enough of each other and even though Jett won’t say those three words Goldie knows that he feels something for her. She is still the same sassy and funny girl that got Jett’s attention. “My cleavage was so glittery, I was afraid a gaggle of unicorns was going to sprout from my nips.” Goldie’s quips never fails to make me smile, she is such a ray of sunshine. The secondary characters Kace, Diego and the other Jett girls are still very much in the picture but we get to know more of Kace’s story and how Diego got thrown in into Goldie’s life, it all got complicated.

In this book Jett’s problem with his dad is the main issue and is coming to a showdown. All he wants is to protect Goldie from the fallout if everything doesn’t go to plan. What is it about men that they think they know what’s best for their women? After all the palaver they went through in the previous book she is still clueless on Jett’s issues and Jett the stubborn man that he is leaves Goldie in the dark. “The man is infuriating. One minute I’m flying on cloud nine with my pleasured vagina flapping in the breeze waving at all unicorns and kitties in my dream land and the next moment, I’m lying low in a gutter full of dragon shit wondering where I went wrong. I liked roller coasters but this was one ride that I was starting to get sick of.” Oh, yes I did notice Goldie’s fascination with unicorns.

After all the effort Jett has done to protect Goldie from his father’s dirty tricks and threats it looks like these pair’s romantic bubble is about to burst. If you don’t like cliffhangers this book ends in one but thank your lucky stars all 4 books are already available. If you may excuse me, I’m off to read book 3! Highly recommended!

Under the neon lights of Bourbon, money is everything.

Justice, faith, and power. They’re the key to my empire and she holds them all in the palm of her hand. Falling for her was a mistake; she stole my heart and consumed me. I was addicted, and she left me weak and vulnerable to my enemies.

They’re everywhere.

Now she’s gone, turning to my enemy’s business partner; the man I’ve hated my entire life. She said she’s protecting me. She said it won’t be forever.

But how can I believe her?

Lies, deceit and deception. They’re the sins driving us apart.

In a city that never sleeps—in a place where scandal hides behind every dark corner, my Jett girl might never be mine again.

Oh wow, this third book in the Bourbon series has everything: romance, intrigue, brooding alphas, sexy women and a bit of drama thrown in. I just can’t get enough of Goldie’s potty mouth.

This book starts with Goldie leaving Jett for Rex but there’s more to this than what you think. She has plans to save the world, Jett’s and hers that is. The only thing is she doesn’t know where to start and how to go about it. If Jett is awarded Lot 17 by the city council, will he finally have his happy ending with Goldie?

This sassy and flirty heroine has no filter but she is so darn lovable. The good guys in this story all have history but managed to come out on top, literally and figuratively. I love that Kace and Diego get to play bigger roles in this book. Kace has his own problems to deal with and when Goldie’s best friend, Lyla, enters the picture he’s in over his head. So far book 3 in this series is my favourite. Goldie got sassier and we get to see Jett’s lighter side, finally! Lots of bedroom banter between the main characters made me laugh out loud.

“What? Is my ass that nasty to you?” he asked, feigning insult.
“What? No, your ass is nice,” I backtracked. “I just…I mean, I don’t do the finger in the hole thing. I mean, that’s your job…wait! No, I mean, finger in the hole, yes, but not in the stink, just in the pink. You know, the vag…”

This book is so much fun to read, it is light hearted with a touch of drama and heck, even the bad guy is a hottie! Scorching hot bedroom, bathroom, hallway and office antics will make your temperature rise just perfect for the cool weather we’re having right now.

Every choice you make in life comes with a consequence.

I was once on top, I was the professional boxer to be afraid of. I had everything I could possibly hope for. I was happy, satisfied, content . . . until one night.

One off day.

One wrong reaction.

I killed a man. The sound, the blood, the stagnant air, it’s forever imprinted in my mind and now dictates the way I live my life.

Desolate with nothing but my penance to pay, I didn’t expect to have my world flipped upside down when Lyla seductively strutted into my life.

I want her. I need her. I crave her.

But I don’t deserve her.

People like to celebrate the day they were born, I like to celebrate the day my soul died.

This is my story of repentance.

This is a spin-off from the Bourbon series and tells us Kace’s story. It is best to read the first three Bourbon books to get the background of Kace’s character because this book deals more about his dark thoughts. To be honest, I wasn’t surprised that throughout the book it is one heck of a depressing and sad tale of a broody moody alpha, a man who almost had it all until that night when he accidentally killed someone out of anger.

In this book we get to dig deeper into Kace’s psyche and why he seems to have the biggest burden on his shoulders. Getting inside Kace’s head feels like a bus load of Debbie Downers out on a joy ride to the local dump site. Even with all his friends rallying for him, Jett, Goldie, Lyla, the other Jett girls: Babs, Tootse, Pepper and Francy none of them seem able to pull him up when he’s down in the dumps and this goes on and on for more than half of the book.

“I’m not who you think I am. I’m a monster, a demonic man who ruins the lives of others. I’m not sentimental, and I’m not caring. I don’t want to talk about my life and I don’t care to hear about anyone else’s. I’m in this world to do one thing and one thing alone – live with this all-consuming, burdensome guilt until I take my last breath. There is nothing you can say to me that will change this so stop trying. Like my father told me, I’m not a true man.”

One shiny glittery light in this book is Goldie who still manages to make the most inappropriate comments that make me smile. Lyla, Kace’s love interest, is one who also holds dark secrets of her own but Kace’s over-consuming guilt tops Lyla’s hands down.

Told in dual points of view and alternating in the past and present, Kace’s character stays consistent throughout the book until the last 10%, thank heavens for small mercies! And it wasn’t Lyla who saves the day, another lady does. You’ll need to eat a boxful of beignets for the sugar high to counteract Kace’s sad and depressing story.

This is my first book by this author.  The first book of the Double Trouble Duet is a story about Dawson and Lacey.

Written in dual points of view, this is a tale of identical twin brothers who didn’t know of each other’s existence until they were twelve years old. That was the first time they met, things didn’t go well and both harboured resentment towards each other. Dawson was raised by their drug addict mother and Aaron was raised by their rich and successful businessman father.  Fast forward to present day, Dawson retired from the military and now owns a bar in Alaska living the quiet life, almost off the grid. Aaron is now the CEO of King Enterprises, successful and rich. Aaron needs Dawson’s help. He wants Dawson to pretend to be him for thirty days whilst he goes to rehab. Pretending to be Aaron will take a lot of hard work and then there’s Lacey, Aaron’s assistant/confidante/best friend. For a whopping $20 million, the price for a twisted game of Freaky Friday, it almost looked too easy but Aaron also told Dawson that Lacey is off limits. Sparks fly, egos bruised but like magnets they are drawn to each other.

This contemporary romance is light – hearted and fun to read. Dawson is the hunky, broody twin whose military background makes him a man with a dark past. After all he’s been through money is not his end goal, looking for his former canine partner is, Dawson is the complete opposite of his twin. Meanwhile Lacey, a very smart, career orientated woman who only meant to help out Dawson ends up falling for him. The only problem is if she is willing to give up everything to be with him?

Since this is only the first book of a duet, we are only given half of the story. There are still a lot of unanswered questions regarding some family members of the twins and the history but I suppose we get to know more about their background when book 2 comes out and we hear Aaron’s story. This book is longer than a novella but I consider this a short read compared to most books. If you are looking for an angst-free, light romance then this might be the book for you. (Rating: 3.5 stars)

Lacey Brooks schooled her features to hide her shock. The beast behind the bar couldn’t be Aaron’s twin brother.
Shaggy. Unkempt. Rough.
She’d been expecting her boss’ mirror image, not someone who crawled out of the Alaskan bush.
But as she drew closer she could see there was more than a resemblance underneath the beard and past-the-shoulder length mane.
Never trust a man with longer hair than you.
Never trust a man period.
Keeping his brother a secret from the world was one thing but how had Aaron managed to keep it from her?
She knew everything about the CEO of King Enterprises. Everything.
Lacey wasn’t just his assistant, she was his confidant, his therapist, his sometime tennis partner, and his friend. But if he kept this secret, what else was he hiding? Like the reason for the cloak and dagger maneuvers, which he’d dismissed as unimportant.
Was it a family feud? A scandal?
Or was Dawson dangerous? A criminal? He certainly looked like it. His icy blue gaze roamed her body as if he owned it, reminding her of Aaron right before he was about to close a deal—a predator. Not a like shark, for they attack on instinct. This was more like a wolf, toying with his prey before sinking his teeth into the neck of its dinner.
“Lacey, I’d like you to meet my long lost brother, Dawson.”
“I look forward to working with you, darling.”
Darling? Ugh.

That twangy accent? Double ugh.

The physical makeover would be the easy part. Taming the he-man into a sophisticated owner of a billion dollar corporation in a day would be impossible.

Review Blitz :: Ruthless King (Mount Trilogy #1) by Meghan March

Get ready for the darker and dirtier side of New Orleans with a brand new alpha romance from USA Today bestselling author Meghan March.

New Orleans belongs to me.
You don’t know my name, but I control everything you see—and all the things you don’t.
My reach knows no bounds, and my demands are always met.
I didn’t need to loan money to a failing family distillery, but it amuses me to have them in my debt.
To have her in my debt.
She doesn’t know she caught my attention.
She should’ve been more careful.
I’m going to own her. Consume her. Maybe even keep her.
It’s time to collect what I’m owed.

I’m no stranger to this author’s work and was eagerly awaiting the first book in this new series, Ruthless King, after a little tease and cameo at the end of her last series – Beneath the Truth. What I wasn’t quite expecting was how different this felt to Meghan March’s other work (granted I haven’t read it all), there’s a real edge to this first book of the Mount Trilogy.

First off, I loved the setting of Ruthless King; the old brewery of Keira’s and the sprawling residence of Lachlan’s. At times I could almost imagine I smelt those old whisky vats. Decadent. These places also lent to accentuate the dark undertone to this story. The basement rooms, the long winding corridors, Keira’s blindness as to where she was being led. Again – a dark edge.

So, I liked this very much. It oozed tension and fear and pulled me along at a fantastic pace. I was never bored, nor did I want to skip anything. Always a bonus for me. I did have trouble with Lachlan. I’m not sure if, at this point, if I like him. Egotistical is a word far too lame for him yet without swearing, I can’t think of another. The author gives us very limited information about the man, intentional or not – I’ve yet to decide. It perhaps went a long way to enhance the secrecy that revolves around Lachlan Mount. Whatever it is, I think it worked. I’m not sure we are meant to like him at this juncture. Keira is a fantastic character, a spine of steel and determination but even she gets ruffled in her ministrations with her ‘debt collector.’ The chemistry between the two is explosive, the push and pull between the pair is written extremely well, and you want more!

As this is the first book in a trilogy, a cliff hanger is a pre-requisite and one I relished. I caught wind to it a little early, I have to say, but waiting to see how it would play out was enticing. Surely Meghan March threw the cat among the pigeons with this one.

Can’t wait for book two. I think it will be as good as the first, the angst and fireworks will perhaps melt into something a bit less superficial and Mount might actually loosen up a little. Would be nice to see Keira with the upper hand. Highly recommended read from an outstanding author, who is fast becoming a favourite of mine.
