Landing my dream job has me eagerly looking toward the future. But when I see Nash Garrison after six long years, my world is thrown completely off its axis.

He was my only friend and confidant during the worst days of my life, and I fell hopelessly in love with him. No eighteen year old girl could resist his protective nature and charming grin. I was no exception.

Now, together, we’re about to bring down the man responsible for my parents’ deaths. Revenge has been the driving force fueling every decision I’ve ever made – except for Nash.

What is it about him that sends the most rational parts of my brain into a tailspin? And how do I balance on the edge of retribution without tumbling into heartbreak once more?

Our relationship was a sin, they said, but how can it be a sin to love so deeply?
She shouldn’t have listened to them.
Shouldn’t have left us behind.
You can’t help whom you love, and without Silvina, I didn’t give a damn.
A mafia prince without a cause is a rebel with nothing to lose.
My brother owned an adult entertainment studio.
He wanted me nowhere near it. Thankfully, his competition did.
I auditioned. Landed a contract.
It’s how I took my sins to a new level, my up-yours to la famiglia.
Until Silvina was kidnapped, and my world was thrown upside down.

Well shoot; how does anyone review a book like this one. There’s so much of the story that I just won’t or can’t share, all the good stuff that happens between the characters and the events that unfold.

So here goes…
Regretfully Yours, a mafia second chance romance like none I have had the pleasure to read. A great book, an addictive read. You won’t want to miss this one. The End!
Okay, I’m only joking.

Are you ready for the real review?

Okay, here goes. By five percent into the book I was already emotionally invested in the story of Gioele and Silvina. These names are so perfect for the two of them, I had to Google how to pronounce Gioele and it took me quite a few pages to be happy with the pronunciation in my head. There’s a large back story between Gioele and Silvina, or as he calls her ‘Ina Mia’. Having grown up together, they have been a part of one another’s lives since the day Silvina was born. Silvina sees Gioele as her bane, which is what she calls his ‘My Bane’. The reasoning behind this will become apparent to any future reader when you get into this book.

‘Age doesn’t matter when it comes to love. I believe you’re born with it, that it’s part of your DNA. It’s about who you are. It’s about who she is. It’s a chemical reaction, some implosion that amalgamates your soul with hers.’

Regretfully Yours is a Mafioso, taboo book. The taboo is very evident all throughout the book, and that’s all I’m going to say on that subject. Having known each other forever, this author provides the reader with pages that peak into the past, if you will, into their childhood together. This helps establish the set up for the do or die that is precariously hanging over them like an executioner’s axe. I went into this book without reading the blurb until after I had started to read. Going in blind was probably a good thing, I didn’t know what to expect. Especially when Silvina is targeted by another famiglia. It threw up a huge question, asking what she had to do with a mob war.

‘And there it is, out there in the open. The whole big elephant that makes me want to kill something with my bare hands. Since I was two, I’ve loved Silvina with every fibre of my body.’

The evolution between Gioele and Silvina is raw and bleeds intensity and that was just in the first twenty percent. Constant ebb and flow between these characters goes through rough and smooth patches. Their families are a major part of the rough. Coursing fractures and bloodletting where none was only a few pages before. Realistic character traits and a huge dose of mafia in the mix creates a power and dominance play that is not for the faint hearted. It’s darkness, grit, edginess, and dirty (and not in a good way). The leader is old school Mafioso, and I mean old school. Their tactics and behaviours should have ceased existence with the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Immersion into the life is shoved down the throats of all pretty much straight from the womb. How could anyone alter that type of operant conditioning, realistically? Most of all, I feel that this book is about the strong protecting the weak. Ensuring the safety of their loved ones. Only with such determined single mindlessness comes repercussions, and these repercussions seldom cause the strong to truly suffer. Oh no, it’s the weak they should protect but it’s the weaker members that pay, and then pay again.

This books contains many different ingredients, any of these will lure in many different types of readers. A read such as this can’t happen all the time, it’s like consuming too much chocolate cake, eventually you feel sick and can’t bring yourself to have anymore. I’m happy to indulge in this type of deliciousness once in awhile if it means reading a book such as this temptress.

Meet Sunniva

I’m a lover of everything beautifully written no matter the genre.
As an author, I pen flawed characters. I seek the flip side where the soul hides, and once there, I want to be pulled out of my comfort zone by stories that take on a life of their own.

I’ve committed paranormal and young adult books. I’ve done contemporary romance verging on erotica, and I’ve dabbled in supernatural mystery. But my heart is anchored in new adult of the true kind: unapologetic young adult that’s all grown up, with conflicts and passions familiar to college-aged readers and people who remember those days like they happened last night.
